Why Steel Tanks Should Always Be Your First Preference
Thursday, February 8, 2018

Water is not only an important resource for our routine lives but it’s also a significant resource for several industries. Just like how homeowners install water tanks to reserve water for later use, similarly factories and industries do the same.

Generally, house tanks are smaller in size but industrial tanks are much larger. The variation in size is obviously because of the vast difference in usage. Industries require hundreds of gallons of water for various operations. The industries that consume the most water are leather tanneries, food and dairy processing and other manufacturing units.

To sufficiently store water, industries usually go for gigantic steel water tanks. The steel tanks are not only able to efficiently hold water but also have a strong structure. Even though there are other types of water tanks such as plastic and timber, steel tanks are by far by the most superior.

Below are a few reasons proving that steel tanks should always be a preference for industrial use:

1. Stainless Steel Structure

A well-structured steel water tank has high corrosion resistance. It is non toxic and has very little cracks in the body because of which the water inside remains clean. Their strong structure allows steel water tanks to be stored underground as well as in open air. The stainless steel container also absorbs heat from sunlight while deflecting the rays. The absorbed heat provides immunity from any algae forming inside the tank.

2. Inbuilt Air Filtration

Steel water tanks also come fitted with an air filtration system and a manhole for inspections later on. They also have a first-rate sealing and locking system. This special sealing device aids in keeping the stored water free of all secondary pollutants such as dirt or chemicals. It also keeps insects and animals from getting inside the tank both as a safety and filtration measure.

3. Advantage over Other Tanks

They are easier to install and require lower maintenance than plastic tanks. While accurately coated steel tanks are most likely to significantly outlive timber bodies. Timber or plastic tanks usually need to be replaced sooner than a pure steel one. This makes steel tanks a more cost effective option than the other two.

Even though stainless steel water tanks are superior of all the other choices available, they still have a few caution points, such as:
  • Because of their strong and stainless structure, steel water tanks are costlier depending on the quality selected.
  • Steel tanks are manufactured for storing liquids with lower acidic content only. Chemicals like hydrochloric and sulfuric acids can’t be stored in the tanks as they cause rusting upon reaction with steel.
Given the above reasons, steel water tank does prove to be an ideal water storing reservoir. Even though other water tanks might be able to withhold stronger liquids, steel tanks are the most common and effective option for storing water because of its higher safety standards and longer life.
